Experienced in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Malaysia, Ts. Haji Muhamad Rumzi bin Mamat is an expert figure in curriculum development, industry collaboration, policy-making, planning, and national physical development. At present, he holds the position of Deputy Director-General (Planning) at the Department of Polytechnic and Community College Education, Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia.
Apart from that, his career in the education field began in 1990 as a lecturer at Port Dickson Polytechnic, Negeri Sembilan, and subsequently spanned various regions including Putrajaya, Sarawak, and Johor, with numerous posts including Principal Assistant Director, Senior Principal Assistant Director, Director in various institutions, as well as Director at the Headquarters.
In 1987, he was granted Petronas sponsorship and earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at El Paso, USA. He was then awarded a Master of Science in Environmental Science Education from the University of Southampton, United Kingdom, in 1988. Meanwhile, he underwent various leadership courses, including Problem-based Learning, Dynamics of Negotiation, Transformational Leadership, and many more at the Higher Education Leadership Academy (AKEPT), Senior Executive Programme in Mt. Eliza Melbourne, and Leadership Development Program at RIPA International, United Kingdom.
Alongside his duties on the National Higher Education Review Committee (NRC), he is the Malaysia Focal Point for Senior Official Member of Education (SOM-ED) in the ASEAN TVET Council (ATC), and he is actively involved in physical development management, rebranding, and policy-making at the ASEAN level.
